Designed by Pierre Jeanneret, the Chandigarh Furniture plays a pivotal role in shaping the city’s architectural identity. Created to meet the fundamental needs of everyday living, this furniture was crafted using locally sourced materials and developed with a cost-effective approach, reflecting both functionality and the ethos of Chandigarh’s modernist vision.
In recent years, however, reproductions have often overlooked key elements such as authentic joinery, material honesty, and fine detailing—diluting the original intent. At Chandigarh Architecture Lab, we took it upon ourselves to faithfully recreate these iconic designs, with a deep respect for their origins. Every piece reproduced by CAL is approached with precision, care, and a commitment to preserving the spirit of Jeanneret’s vision—ensuring that the legacy lives on in both form and function.
Chandigarh Furniture
Ironically, something that was produced from and for Chandigarh was no longer being produced here in the city, at least not how it should have been. We wanted to recreate the pieces with utmost precision, love, care, true to the ethos and best quality that could be available globally.
The brief for us was simple and very clear, Recrafting Legacy.
Recrafting Legacy
Our practice belives that honesty has to be the root of any good, one desires. Honesty with people we work, honesty at each step of our process, honesty with clients always has to take a centre stage. As humans, we may make mistakes, but we will never be dishonest.
